Families Enjoy Disney’s World of Color Show

Disneyland is a popular destination for families, especially those with children between the ages of 6 and 16. Younger children typically don’t have the stamina for a whole day at the park, and older teenagers sometimes feel a need to sneer at anything childlike, especially anything suggested by, or accompanied by, their parents.

But even the most cynical teenager will love the World of Color show at Disney’s California Adventure park. By buying a package that includes tickets to both parks, the family can visit Disneyland during the day and then walk over to their Disneyland resort hotel to relax and freshen up.

At the hotel, Disneyland memories from the day can be exported from camera to computer and celebrated over dinner. The hour or two at the hotel will be a welcome respite from the frenzy of the day and a time the whole family can prepare for an evening show at the California Adventure park. Happily, everything is in easy walking distance, and the family can walk (or take the monorail part of the way) to Paradise Bay in time for one of the evening shows.

The World of Color is a water show like no other. Over a thousand programmable water jets can direct their water flow high in the air or low, rotating in circles or standing still, or focused in tight streams or in fine, misty sprays. The director can light up the streams with vibrant colors from in-stream lasers or with external spotlights.

On the wall of mist, Disney projects images and animations of some of the famous scenes from older Disney movies and newer Pixar films. The characters dance, sing, play drums, and so forth, all accompanied by a musical score written and recorded especially for the show. The images on the mist add a real mystery and dream-like quality to the show.

The water jets were choreographed by a professional choreographer, and they literally dance to the music and to the story being told by or about the Disney character projected onto the water wall.

Paradise Bay is a large area and great visibility for the entire show is available from anywhere around the bay. It will delight all members of the family, even those jaded teenagers.
